in which akron/family sings of silly bears

so, when i first heard silly bears by akron/family, all i could think of was: CATCHY FUN. and then i played it again and realized they were actually singing about bears (like the title suggested, natch), in a very surreal winnie the pooh way (much like jefferson airplane with their alice in wonderland ode, white rabbit - which, i ought to point out, i adore). then i played it yet again and realized, oh yeah, they're not really singing about bears at all, are they?

or, maybe they are (if asked, the husband would tell me bears + honey = drugs). i'm not sure what they're going for, but in a song like silly bears, it doesn't really matter, because it's so fricking listenable that they could be singing about aliens getting pedicures and i'd still put it on repeat.

anthemic opening guitar lines, stomp/handclaps (YES!), synth strains running up and down rapidly alongside choral stanzas and lo-fi noise distortion, silly bears is a joyful explosion of music delight.

one silly bear said to the other silly bear,
"where'd you get that honey, that honey, so sweet?"
"my dear friend bear, it's just over there,
inside the ancient forest, beside the giant flower."

"how do i get there? how do i get there?
how do i get there, my dear friend?"
"gently, gently -
down to the valley, over the mountain and through that deep river.
back over the mountain you'll find a gentle meadow,
where on the other side lies the ancient forest."

"will you go with me, will you accompany?"
"laughing and dancing, we'll find the ancient forest.
surely you know that wherever there is laughter, dancing and honey, i'll be there!"

how do I get there,
how do I get there,
how do I get there my dear friend?
