one of these bands is cloud cult, who i have yet to see. imagine the joy i felt when i saw on their site that they will be at the roxy here in LA in september! i even sent the husband an email completely in caps because i was so excited.
and then...*smacks head* i realized their calendar was for 2010, which makes sense, because they'd released an album then. all that joy went rushing out the window and then annoyance set in, because, honestly, peeps? HOW DID I NOT KNOW? how could i not have been there?
owell. next time around, i swear.
in the time being, i want to share a song off of their latest album, light chasers. unexplainable stories is everything good and familiar that one would come to expect from cloud cult. a beautiful, orchestral melody that rises and falls like wind juxtaposed against poetic lyrics about trying to find meaning in one's life. it's gorgeous, friends. the exact kind of song to float away to while you've got your headphones on and your eyes closed.
i get chills every time i listen to it. gah. brilliant, brilliant, brilliant.
we've been searching for our whole lives.
and we have traveled through unexplainable stories.
swear to god i fought the good fight,
always waiting for the coming of morning.
and i heard the captain say, i heard the captain say,
"the more i know, the less i'm knowing."
and i heard the captain say, i heard the captain say,
"activate your force-fields and just keep going..."
