in which nico stai shares a gorgeous b-side

so, holy hell, peeps, i am so in love with today's song. i wrote about nico stai awhile back and his fabulous one october song - well, recently, he offered up this b-side to his facebook list as a thanks for his fans' support. and honestly, if this is what his new material is like for his upcoming album, i can hardly wait to hear it.

home is not where i come from is, on paper, so simple - just vocals against a guitar. it's this quiet foundation, though, that sets the scene for a song that radiates a beautiful strength in terms of what it means to have someone there for you, and, in turn, be there for them. hard to believe this song isn't going to make it on the official album (which he just started recording this week) - plus, according to his facebook page, home is not where i come from is part of a three song series. let's hope we get to hear the other two parts!

don't don't don't don't don't you know
home is not where i come from
don't don't don't don't don't you see
none of it even matters to me
i've got my eyes, they're set on the prize, yeah
been running forward since the day i was born
and it won't mean that it means nothing to me
it's just one day, man, you find what you want
well if they ever take you out
i'm going out too

so let your hair down, we're walking on top
fix your eyes, we're taking it all
'cause you know this town never did a thing for you and i
yeah, this town always left us by the side
and in the morning i look out my window
and i see you smiling and leaning to the side
you know i need a reason not to die
well, hell - you might as well be it for awhile
you know the day they take you out
is the day i'm going out, too

it's a wild wild wild world out there
and we've got reasons and enemies to spare
the heart in the floor and my head up in the clouds
yeah, i'll never work, but you're the best i ever found
and it's been years, years, years now
but i'm still here, just dreaming about your eyes
and if you hear this and you start to sing along
it's 'cause you know what it feels to not belong
and if you ever need a comeback,
i can be the thing you come back to
yeah, and if what you really need is a reason,
hell, i'll be the reason, too

don't don't don't you know
home is not where i come from
don't don't don't you see
none of it even matters to me
