which leads me to introduce you to a great new shoegazing band from chicago, pink frost.

a brief history of the trio:
Pink Frost came together through a shared affinity for reverb, air guitar, and disgust. After several suicide attempts and realizing that the Chicago shoegaze scene completely sucked… they immediately began work on what would become their E.P. Self-titled and self released the three tracks create music for inclement weather, infinite sadness, and songs for Owsley.
sounds just like the sort to produce dreary music to fall in love with, right?
the three song EP is filled with lots of guitars melding over each other and hazy, echo-y vocals that come across as so earnest and vulnerable. the best song has to be the sun, which, truth be told, literally gave me goosebumps when i first heard it. it's filled with layers that build upon other layers which eventually strip away until nearly nothing is left, which is fitting, since it's about love, loss, yearning, and a general bitch-fest of poor weather (which, as we all know, is really just another way of saying "i miss you.").
it is a gorgeous song, friends. and so very worthy of your listen.
i kinda miss my home
but i really hate the heat
i kinda miss her, too
but she can visit me
i bruised up my bones
the second time this week
and i got so drunk
that i cried in my sleep
i'm gonna to miss the train
goddamn this weather
why does it always rain?
this walk takes forever
if my shoes weren't wet
then i could walk it better
please come home again
please, come home again
why does it rain?
goddamn this weather
the sun is gonna come
and take you away
please come home again
check out the rorschach-filled video:
the band is reportedly at work on a full-length album which will be released later this year.
